Emma Murray’s 42 Point Contribution to Match Win

Emma Murray played a blinding game earlier this month for Ironsides 2nd XV.

In a great display of kicking, Ironsides 2nd XV Fly Half Emma Murray landed a record number of conversions, in a home match on Sunday 19th February, as part of a 100+ point scoreline win over Tabard RFC Ladies.

As far as this Veteran author is concerned, her kicking haul (supplemented by 2 tries from Emma) is almost certainly an Ironsides Club record.

Whilst tries were dotted down near or under the Posts, those scored out wide, demonstrated how Emma’s kicking prowess has come on. Perhaps she has been inspired by her own last minute drop goal in the last weekend of November out of the mud and gloom of extra time to win an exciting Cup Match against Eton Manor.

In true Ironsides tradition, the one kick that Emma did miss on Sunday (right in front of the posts) got a rousing heckle from the home Crowd.

Despite the scoreline, huge praise must go to a relatively inexperienced Tabard team who travelled all the way from near Watford with only 12 players available (numbers matched on the field by Ironsides as a sporting gesture).

Tabard did not give up and showed heart and soul to play through to the final whistle, as well as keeping up good humour both on the field and in the bar. They were a credit to the game of Rugby and we wish them well for future seasons."
