IRONSIDES RAISE £1000s FOR CHOSEN CHARITIES

A fantastic effort from across the club has enabled us to donate £1000s to each of our three chosen charities again this year.

We were able to donate over £3,600 to the St George's Hospital Charity, which works at the heart of our community and touches the lives of the thousands of people cared for by the St George’s Hospital Trust’s hospitals and local community services each year. The Charity funds a range enhancements to the physical environment of the hospitals, training and education programmes, medical research and state-of-the-art equipment.

We raised over £3,000 for the amazing work done by the Tag Rugby Trust, a UK-based charity that connects with young people and their communities worldwide, by using the power and simplicity of team sport to engage with and educate individuals, develop their skills and providing vital social and humanitarian support. The positive impact of the Trust’s programme leads to lasting change within whole communities, both in the UK and in developing countries across the world.

We were also able to donate £2,500 to the 3 Pillars Project, a charity founded by Ironsides Colts Coach Mike Crofts, which runs sport-based mentoring programmes for young people, vulnerable to crime – working across London and the South East in prisons and young offenders’ institutes (YOIs) and in the community in partnership with Pupil Referral Units and Youth Offending Teams.

A massive thank you to all those Ironsiders who have donated to our charity activities over the year - we hope members will get involved and support charity events next season. Watch this space for more details! We are delighted to be able to support these worthy causes and we hope to raise even more money in 2019-20.
